Ph.D STUDENTS
MARYÉLLE ANDREA GOBATTO DE CARVALHO Maryélle has a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Chemistry from the Federal Technological University of Paraná (UTFPR) and a Master’s Degree from the State University of Ponta Grossa (UEPG). Her background includes experience in the synthesis and characterization of Porphyrins for use in Photovoltaic Cells and Photodynamic Therapy. She is currently a Ph.D student at LSO working in the synthesis of potential inhibitors of the Main Protease of SARS-CoV-2, as well as the development of synthetic methodologies.
CARLOS VINÍCIUS DOERNER DOS SANTOS Carlos obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) and a Master’s Degree from the same institution. He has experience in the chemistry of organic chalcogen compounds and organic electrosynthesis. Currently he is pursuing a Ph.D Degree at LSO working in the synthesis of chalcogen-containing flavonoids using environmentally friendly approaches.
MARIA EDUARDA CANDIDO THEDY Maria Eduarda has a Degree in Pharmacy from the Federal University of Pampa (2021) and a Master’s Degree in Chemistry, with a specialization in Organic Chemistry, from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC). Her background includes the synthesis of compounds containing sulfur and selenium, prioritizing the development of environmentally friendly synthetic methodologies. Her Ph.D work in LSO focus on the development of new synthetic methodologies to obtain small chiral molecules of biological or pharmacological relevance using asymmetric catalysis and photocatalysis.
LUIZ PAULO DE AZEVEDO BELLI Luiz Paulo holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from the Federal University of Santa Catarina and a Master’s Degree in Chemistry from the same institution. His background includes the functionalization of aromatic heterocyclic compounds through photochemical reactions, and his current Ph.D work in LSO focus on the development of new asymmetric synthetic methodologies.
MASTER STUDENTS
LARA MADEIRA FLORES Lara obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC). She engaged in LSO as an undergraduate student and got involved in the synthesis of brivaracetam, which allowed her to familiarize with asymmetric photocatalysis. She is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree, still working with asymmetric catalysis.
UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS
VANESSA PEREIRA Vanessa is pursuing a Pharmacy Degree at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC). As an undergraduate student in LSO she’s been involved in projects concerning the development of novel catalyzed asymmetric reactions.
